Breastfeeding Resources

Kelly Mom is an American IBCLC (the highest level of qualificaiton you can have as a lactation consultant) and her site is a collection of information from various authoritative sources. There's a wealth of information here, including advice when things don't seem to be going right.

The Analytical Armadillo is an award-winning blog written by a UK-based IBCLC. One article I found fascinating is about foremilk and hindmilk.

I was several months into breastfeeding before I knew LLLI (La Leche League International) even existed. I've only attended a handful of meetings, but I've found them to be helpful and friendly. The groups are made up of LLL Leaders (trained and knowledgeable, often IBCLCs) and local mums. I recently came across a page on their site that lists frequently asked questions (and their answers) for new mums.

A wonderful little pictorial guide to recognising breastfeeding cues from your baby.

Another little picture showing just how small a newborn's stomach is. I certainly would have found this reassuring when I was pumping for Baby Badger in the first few weeks of her life.

Not strictly a breastfeeding resource, but I see co-sleeping as a big part of breastfeeding success. It's essential that you follow the guidelines for how to co-sleep safely.
